On October 14, 1984, Alexandra Virina Scott MBE was born. She is an English sports commentator and former professional football player who mostly played right defender for Arsenal in the FA WSL. She participated in 140 matches for the England national team and represented Great Britain in the 2012 Summer Olympics.
At the club level, Scott played for Arsenal for three different stints, with a year with Birmingham City in 2004–05 and three years with the Boston Breakers in the American Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) league in between. She scored the winning goal for Arsenal in the 2007 UEFA Women’s Cup Final.

In addition to playing for Women’s Super League club Arsenal, English professional footballer Leah Cathrine Williamson OBE (born 29 March 1997) captains the England women’s national team. She is versatile enough to play in midfield or center defense. Throughout her whole senior domestic playing career, she has represented Arsenal. She also participated in the 2021 Olympics for Great Britain. Williamson earned a berth on the 2022 tournament’s Team of the Tournament after leading England to their first-ever UEFA European Championship triumph and the first-ever international championship for the women’s team.

The England captain, Leah Williamson, has talked about how Alex Scott, a BBC pundit and former teammate at Arsenal, treated her harshly when she was a young working woman.
After missing a month owing to a foot injury, 25-year-old Williamson recently made a triumphant return to the Arsenal defense. She previously guided the Lionesses to victory at the summertime European Championship. The Gunners thrashed Aston Villa 4-1 last weekend to maintain their place as one of the league’s top contenders, even if they are presently three points behind Chelsea with one game left.
Earlier this week, the England captain spoke with Sky Sports’ Inside the WSL series about her career path to date. Williamson talked about how learning from more seasoned players on the side helped her during her formative years at the Gunners. Williamson told Sky Sports, “I had Alex (Scott) next to me in the dressing room. She took me under her wing and mentored me both personally and professionally. Despite my jokes to the contrary, she was the player who was the most difficult on me.
She never once explicitly requested that I act with respect. Leah, get up quicker, and other similar advice were her frequent refrains. It was essentially telling them, “This is the standard by which we play; either catch up quickly or you will fall behind.”
Scott, who won 19 major trophies during his time at Arsenal and enjoyed a trophy-laden career, made jokes in his Twitter reaction. She shared the interview video along with the statement, “Nothing but love from day one to now & always Leah Williamson.”
Williamson has spent her whole domestic career at Arsenal since making her senior debut there in 2014. For that year, Scott was named club captain.
The two collaborated to help Arsenal win the WSL championship in 2015 and two FA Cups in 2014 and 2016, prior to Scott announcing his retirement at the conclusion of the 2017–18 season. Williamson recently made her 200th appearance for the Gunners in the 1-0 victory over Everton despite only being 25 years old. After reaching the milestone, Williamson claimed that she felt like she had been a part of the club for ages.
She said after Everton’s triumph, “That means everything to me.” “I’m very grateful and ecstatic to have made 200 appearances.
“Now that I think about it, I’m 25 years old, and I’ve also been injured for a total of what feels like three years. I have a sense of déjà vu.
