Cari Farver Case
Cari Farver visited Dave Kroupa’s vehicle repair shop in Omaha, Nebraska, in 2012 with her Ford Explorer for maintenance. It happened immediately. Dave and his ex-girlfriend Amy Flora, with whom he has two children, were divorced at the time. He was also seeing Liz Golyar, a woman he met on a dating service.
Golyar, like Kroupa, had two children and was conscious of his need to socialize. Cari Farver’s friend Amy Long told ABC News that she “couldn’t help but notice Cari,” who always “lit up a room.” Kroupa may have been drawn to Farver because of that. Farver told Kroupa on their first date that she wasn’t looking for a committed relationship.
Golyar left Kroupa’s flat later that evening, and Farver ran into him in the corridor. The two barely noticed one another, like ships in the night, but that brief conversation would soon turn into something much more ominous. Farver was staying with Kroupa in November 2012 because she was working on a project and he lived nearby.
Kroupa kissed her goodbye on the morning of her departure, but their conversation ended there. But he would continue to hear from her for the following four years. Even though neither of them had explicitly stated it, Farver texted Kroupa a few hours after leaving his flat to indicate that she wanted to formally move in with him. The texts quickly became aggressive after he politely refused them.
On December 22, 2016, authorities discovered that Shanna Liz Golyar had viciously killed Farver in her automobile nearly four years earlier, in November 2012. Golyar also pretended to be Farver for three years. She used to text members of Farver’s family to hide her heinous deed. She shot at her own house, killed her pets, and hurt herself in the leg all to appear innocent.
Golyar was also convicted in 2017 of first-degree murder as well as second-degree arson. and was given a life sentence in prison with no chance of parole. Farver’s son Max lives with his grandmother Nancy as well. His grandmother takes care of him, and he works as an application developer. He received a degree in software engineering upon graduation.
