Debra Jeter Case
Kelsey Jeter died as a result of Debra Janelle Jeter’s assault and physical abuse of her two daughters, Kiersten Jeter, and Kelsey Jeter, on June 5, 2009. Kelsey was 12 years old when the murder occurred.
This incident happened at a run-down house off of I-77 close to Hillsboro. Speaking of that, 12-year-old Kelsey Leanne Jeter’s body was found at the residence. Kiersten Leigh Jeter, 13, was found to have injuries of varying severity.
Following the discovery, cases were brought, and 13-year-old Kiersten Leigh Jeter was taken right away to the hospital for treatment. The body of Kelsey Leanne Jeter was delivered to the mortuary at the same time for a possible autopsy.
According to online reports, Kiersten and Kelsey were ecstatic to see their mother after “a 15-day absence.” After she informed her now-divorced husband Lester Lee Jeter that the prime suspect Debra Jeter was planning a surprise outing for their two daughters, he gave his consent.
After picking up her two daughters from school, Debra Jeter drove them to an abandoned flat on Interstate 77 close to Route 35 in Milford. She allegedly started by stabbing her older daughter, Kiersten, who then yelled for her little sister to escape.
While attempting to protect both herself and her younger sister, Kiersten Jeter sustained stab wounds to her back and other parts of her body. Then Kelsey’s throat would be slashed, killing her, by Debra Jeter.
On May 27, 2010, Debra Jeter, the major suspect in the horrifying crime and ultimately identified as the mother of the two victims, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of release. She received the punishment after being found guilty by a judge in a Texas court.
She was accused of killing 12-year-old Kelsey Leanne Jeter in the first degree and attempting to kill Kiersten Leigh Jeter, 13, among other crimes.
