The literary agent Felicity Blunt, Stanley Tucci’s wife, provided him with support when he received treatment for mouth cancer, according to a recent interview. On Sunday Sitdown, the 62-year-old Devil Wears Prada actor confessed to Willie Geist that the moment he learned he had a serious illness was “terrifying.”
Tucci reflected on how he and his late wife, actress Kate Spath-Tucci, had “traveled all over the world trying to find a cure for her” before her breast cancer death in 2009. So when I got it, I was very surprised, he said. I pronounced, “I was terrified, absolutely terrified.”
In regard to the “awful” and “horrible” high-dose radiation and chemotherapy he underwent, Tucci said, “I lost 35 pounds. unwilling to eat. I had a feeding tube for six months, during which time everything tasted and smelt like you know what.
And it took me a very long time to be able to taste and eventually eat regularly again. I was genuinely afraid, but Felicity was so forceful, he admitted. Although she had to drag me against my will, without that [treatment], I wouldn’t be here today.
Tucci has been in remission ever since his therapy was completed in 2018. He is currently getting ready for season three of his travel show, Searching For Italy, which explores the cuisine of the nation.
