Is Jane McDonald In a Relationship?
Since 2008, when the former adolescent lovers were reintroduced to one another by a common friend, former Loose Women star Jane McDonald has been dating The Searchers drummer.
When Jane McDonald’s beloved 13-year partner Walter “Eddie” Rothe passed away from lung cancer in March 2021, her life was permanently altered.
The old teenage lovers were reintroduced to one another by a friend in 2008, and the English singer and the drummer for The Searchers began dating.
The same year, on Christmas Eve, Rothe proposed to McDonald, beginning a relationship that would endure more than ten years.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic’s lockdown restrictions and, ultimately, the sad news that the couple had a terminal sickness prevented them from being married.
A McDonald’s spokesman posted on social media in April 2021 to share the devastating news of Rothe’s passing, saying it was done “with immense sadness.”

The statement announced that the gifted musician, who was formerly a member of the British disco band Liquid Gold, had ‘gone away’ on March 26 at the age of 67 following ‘for the last few months’ battle with lung cancer.
The tearful message also thanked the NHS employees who had looked after Rothe during his illness and included a selfie of McDonald and her fiance.
How did Eddie Rothe and Jane McDonald first connect?
When Rothe was just 17 years old in 1980, McDonald first encountered her.
Before breaking up, they were together for roughly six months. During that time, the Loose Women star concentrated on her music career as a cruise ship singer and her profession as a TV personality.
She first met her second husband, Henrick Brixen, who was working as a plumbing engineer on the same boat, when McDonald was filming episodes of BBC’s The Cruise. From 1986 to 1987, she was married to a man by the name of Paul, but little is known about their brief union.
The BAFTA winner wed Brixen in 1998 and later employed him as her manager; nevertheless, the couple eventually got divorced in 2003 and decided to separate ways professionally.
McDonald clarified that she wasn’t the one who ended the relationship while discussing the split in 2018.
After making the devastating admission that he thought he was holding her back from success, the 60-year-old confessed that Brixen ‘walked out of the marriage to save my career’.
“Henrik tried his very, very best and he was brilliant at what he did, but he didn’t know the industry,” McDonald told the Mirror. He stated, “If I don’t leave you, you are never going to have a career,” at a period when we had “made quite a few enemies.”
Fortunately for McDonald, her relationship with Brixen did not stop after their divorce.
By December 2008, the Yorkshire native would have revived her romance with her ex-boyfriend Eddie Rothe, and she would be wearing an engagement ring once more. Over three decades after the couple’s initial date, the 70s crooner proposed on Christmas Eve. Despite being overjoyed by the proposal, McDonald was obviously not in a rush to be married.
She joked that she had the “longest courtship and engagement in history,” telling the Mirror in 2011, “We are not rushing to get married.” He’s terrific, adorable, and we’re having such a great time together, McDonald continued as she praised her fiancé for being “so patient.”
The singer-songwriter added an unexpected reason not to rush into marriage by joking that she wouldn’t be able to afford a third divorce.
“I love this one more than I ever loved the others, and I don’t want to jinx it,” she remarked. I can’t afford to get divorced again, in any case.
McDonald said that she might need to confirm with Rothe that he hasn’t changed his mind about their marriage in a different interview with My Weekly.
She added, “I’ll have to ask him and see if he still wants to do it! It’s been so long.”
Sadly, McDonald and Rothe’s wedding was never ever held.
