When Turner rode 100 victories in UK flat races in a single year in 2008, she created history. Later, she won eight Group races, including two Group 1 races and a Grade 1 race. She retired from racing in 2015 and began regularly contributing to ITV Racing. She has ridden three winners at Royal Ascot in the year since she came out of retirement.
Turner was born in north Nottinghamshire, two miles from Nottingham Racecourse. She is one of six daughters born to Kate and Richard Turner. Her mother was a riding instructor, thus she started riding at a young age. Later, she worked as an apprentice for Michael Bell in Newmarket, Suffolk, after riding for the neighborhood trainer Mark Polglase and completing a course at the Northern Racing College. She rode Markellis in her first race on March 27th, 2000, at Southwell.
