“It is with great regret that we announce the passing of Jim Scoutten. Jim played a crucial part in the industry for thirty years while covering shooting sports, and he will be sorely missed. Jim Scoutten advised, “As always, shoot sensibly, shoot frequently, and keep ’em in the ten rings.

Although Jim had been ailing for some time, the precise cause of his passing was neither known nor revealed.

About Jim Scoutten -:

For three decades, Scoutten, who was raised in Franklin, Tennessee, was cordially welcomed into the homes of the country’s shooting aficionados. This invitation cemented Scoutten as the most-watched guns reporter in the history of the business due to his expertise in firearms, his passion for shooting sports, and the journalistic integrity that defined his entire career. Scoutten started her career as a general news reporter for All News Radio. Scoutten began his career in television news after graduating from broadcasting school, working as a reporter, anchor, producer, and news director in several American cities.

When the opportunity arose, Scoutten began reporting on shooting sports. In the early 1990s, he transitioned to special interest reporting and covered topics like racing. As a result, he was hired to develop the 1993 television series American Shooter. Scoutten was recognized in Garry Mason’s Legends of the Outdoors Hall of Fame in 2018 after 25 years of filming sports broadcasting and participating in thousands of shows over his incredible career.
