Kimberly Schlapman News
In Los Angeles, the Little Big Town member participated in the 24th Annual A Home For The Holiday At The Grove celebration honoring families whose lives have been impacted by adoption. She was thinking about her own experience as an adoptive parent to her 5-year-old daughter Dolly Grace with husband Steve Schlapman during the fun-filled evening.
Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town recalls falling in “instant” love with her adopted daughter Dolly Grace
“I was just considering how much I love my adopted child. It is the same kind of affection I have for my own child. On November 20, the 53-year-old told E! News that there was no difference. “As soon as we laid eyes on her, the love was there right away. My spouse and I fell in love with her right away.
“Really, all these children need—the ones who require foster care and adoption—is love,” Kimberly concluded. All they require is a family who will love, take care of, and adopt them. There are a lot of them.
Daisy Pearl, a 15-year-old daughter, is also a parent to the couple. Daisy was the one who pushed the hardest for a sibling, according to Kimberly, who previously spoke about her struggles to have a second child.
“We persisted, but when Daisy was 4, she began pleading for a sibling, saying, ‘Please, please. In 2021, she remembered telling People, “I want a baby brother or a newborn sister. “At that time, we began trying much harder. We followed all medical advice, starting with artificial insemination and on to in vitro fertilization as our situation became more critical.
We lost the first in vitro, the Grammy winner said. The second one was lost. And after that, my husband and I simply stated one day, “Maybe God is telling us it’s time to adopt.”
After receiving a text about the infant girl during the holidays, the couple made the announcement that Dolly had been adopted into their family in January 2017. Three years later, Kimberly created her first children’s book, A Dolly for Christmas, which told the tale of her older daughter, who pleaded with Santa for a brother.
According to Kimberly, “She is our absolute Christmas miracle,” in 2020. “I believe that our faith, as well as our love for one another and for our extended family, got us through all of the setbacks.”
Kimberly is excited to carry on holiday customs with her family this Christmas, including a wonderful vacation to Tennessee.
“A spot called Blackberry Farms in East Tennessee is where we always end the year. We do all the Christmas festivities with our band, crew, kids, and families, she told E! News. “The truly fun stuff is decorating cookies, taking cooking classes, riding horses, etc. We enjoy fantastic meals without having to prepare it.
