In 1985, Childress was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from George Mason University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering. He enrolled in American University Washington College of Law, where he graduated in 2014 with a Juris Doctor.

Childress served as Judge Henry Floyd’s law clerk on the Fourth Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals after graduating from law school. After that, he joined the US Air Force and started working as an assistant staff judge advocate.

Marcus is a skilled litigator and authority on in-depth research. He often advises clients on the Department of Justice (DOJ), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) enforcement procedures and has tried more than 20 criminal jury cases.

He also counsels clients on inquiries into potential violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), human rights issues, and other white-collar matters.

As the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the US Capitol’s investigative counsel, Marcus took more than 60 depositions and questioned major witnesses.

While working as a Special Assistant US Attorney in the Middle District of Georgia and an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate in the US Air Force, he oversaw more than 100 criminal investigations.
