Rex Heuermann News

An architect from New York City named Rex Heuermann has been detained in relation to the notorious “Gilgo Four” crimes. Heuermann boasted about his job in an interview conducted more than ten years after the alleged murders. Heuermann is well renowned for his aptitude for architecture and self-described troubleshooting abilities.

More than 11 years after the bodies of four women were discovered in 2010, on February 17, 2022, Bonjour Realty first posted the 19-minute video in which Heuermann discusses his extensive professional background and his eponymous architecture firm, which served illustrious clients like American Airlines and Catholic Charities. Heuermann, who was born and bred on Long Island, proudly identified himself as a troubleshooter. Heuermann informed the interviewer, “I’ve been working in Manhattan since 1987.

Heuermann described himself as a “facilitator” for out-of-town businesses that felt frightened by the complexity of New York City’s requirements while stressing that he didn’t directly work for the city. He made fun of the city workers’ ignorance of their own codes and laws throughout the interview while chuckling. He asserted that educating the city about these issues was a part of his work and emphasized patience as his strongest quality.

Rex Heuermann, the suspected killer in the Gilgo Beach murder, said in the video of his preferred hammer for cabinet makers, “It is persuasive enough when I need to persuade something.” His interviewer joked, “Someone!”

According to his website, Heuermann also offered his services to several municipal departments, charitable foundations, construction firms, real estate investors, and private property owners. Among his prestigious clients were Catholic Charities, the NYC-DEP Sewerage Treatment, and American Airlines.

Rex Heuermann was taken into custody more than 11 years after the ‘Gilgo Four’ women’s bodies were found wrapped in hessian along Ocean Parkway close to Gilgo Beach. The strangling murders of Melissa Barthelemy, Amber Lynn Costello, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, and Megan Waterman are thought to have taken place between 2007 and 2010.

59-year-old Heuermann was captured by a specialized task group looking into the Gilgo Beach killings. According to sources, the task force had been keeping an eye on him for more than a year before DNA evidence finally connected him to the crimes. The Massapequa Park resident was arrested, shocking the neighborhood as police surrounded his home.

Heuermann had been running his own business, RH Architecture Design, on Fifth Avenue since 1994, which was six years before the Long Island killings. Heuermann is being closely examined in regard to the “Gilgo Four” murders in particular, as opposed to the other six remains that were later found and are supposedly connected to the same case. Investigations are ongoing.

Ten dead, including eight women, an infant, and an unidentified male, were finally discovered in the Gilgo Beach killings, which shocked Long Island and the country. Following the initial findings, the Long Island Serial Killer (LISK) investigation kicked up with Melissa Barthelemy, an escort who vanished from the Bronx in 2009. When the burlap-wrapped bodies of all the victims were found, a manhunt for the murderer was launched.
