Who Is Susan Crow ?
Susan Crow is a generous person. Since 2007, she has been wed to Tony Bennett. She is her husband’s 40-year younger spouse and is 55 years old.
Bennett’s concert is where the couple is said to have first connected when she was in her 20s. He was in his early 60s at the time. The pair dated each other for 20 years before getting married.
In February 2021, Bennett revealed that he had been battling Alzheimer’s disease since 2016. Bennett tweeted on February 1 that, “Life is a gift – even with Alzheimer’s,” as he made the diagnosis official and paid tribute to his wife. On their website, the AARP group, which made the Alzheimer’s diagnosis announcement, went into detail about the couple’s romance.
According to the AARP website, “Susan’s devotion to Tony is impressive to witness – and it dates back to before she even met him.” “She was an unusual lover of his music, having been born in San Francisco in 1966. Susan was calling local radio stations to request Tony’s songs at a time when most kids were listening to Elton John or the Stones. She also begged her parents to take her to his performances and finally took charge of the local fan club.
Given that her mother, Marion, was one of the original “Tonymaniacs,” the army of young bobby-soxers who fueled Tony’s first taste of stardom at the beginning of the 1950s, she came by her fascination honestly. Marion was 14 years old when Tony earned a recording contract with Columbia Records in 1950, coming off the success of his performance with Bob Hope.
The Love Story of Tony Bennett and Susan Crow
It’s possible to say that Tony Bennett, a great singer, met his wife Susan Crow before she was even born. Bennett disclosed that Marion Crow, Crow’s mother, posed for a portrait with him after seeing one of his concerts in 1966 in his 2016 autobiography Just Getting Started.
As luck would have it, Marion was carrying Susan at the time. Bennett composed. Knowing the dramatic turn of events that occurred in the aftermath, it’s a photo that we all giggle about.
How Tony Bennett and Susan Crow Met
Bennett and Crow first met when she was 19 and he was waiting for her backstage after a performance. Crow was 40 years Bennett’s junior. Crow, like her mother, was Bennett’s biggest fan and served as the head of the fan club in San Francisco. (One could argue that’s where he found his heart.)
In his memoirs, Bennett stated, “It thrilled me that someone of her age was so devoted to my music. “I not only agreed to say hello to her backstage, but I also asked her to be my date for the evening, and that’s how it all really began, foreshadowed by a backstage photo taken in 1966!”
When They Get Married
Bennett and Benedetto exchanged vows in a civil ceremony in New York City in 2007 after being together for more than 20 years. At the private celebration, Mario Cuomo and his wife Matilda served as witnesses. Bennett and Benedetto followed it up with a honeymoon in Italy.
After the wedding, Crow told People, “We just decided to do it.” It was merely another incident of its kind. It was ideal that we could complete it entirely on our own and in the manner we desired.
