William Cosden Jr Wikipedia, Sister, Wiki, Obituary, Karen Haris, Sibling -: On December 25, 1958, Sally and William L. Devine gave birth to Katherine Merry “Kathy” in Seattle, King County, Washington. Her family recounted how the sweet young girl thought she was destined to be a pastor because she was born on Christmas Day.

Kathy frequently brought stray animals and kids who were living on the streets into her home. She had a good heart and often sought to aid the poor and the unfortunate. According to reports, Kathy disappeared on November 25, 1973.
Near North 91st Street and Aurora Avenue North in Seattle, the 14-year-old teenager was last observed hitchhiking. Kathy was going to Rockaway, Oregon, to visit her family after just breaking up with her boyfriend. Her mother gave her a nod.
Her family had called the police and reported her as a runaway. They were unaware that it would be the last time they would see their daughter alive. A young couple discovered the 14-year-old girl’s remains at Thurston County’s Margaret McKenny Campground on December 6, 1973.
According to reports, the teenager was first mistaken for one of the several victims of the infamous American serial killer Theodore Robert Bundy, also known as Ted Bundy, by the authorities and Kathy’s family.
After nearly ten years of denials, he finally acknowledged to killing at least 30 people in seven states between 1974 and 1978. Because Kathy happened at that time and was murdered using a method that was eerily similar to his, everyone recognized her as another victim of his.

William Cosden Jr. was taken into custody by Thurston County Sheriff’s officers at the beginning of March 2002 and was accused of killing Kathy. He had been incarcerated on McNeil Island near Tacoma since 1976, serving a 48-year sentence for rape in a different case. According to reports, DNA evidence from the Washington Crime Lab linked William to the 29-year-old homicide case. The bail amount was set at $500,000. His trial was scheduled for May of that same year.
The older sister of Kathy, Sherrie Devine, said she was concerned when she first met William and that it was “very terrifying. It would have been worse if we had been forced to look directly at him. William, who was 55 at the time and was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of release, received his sentence in June 2002.
Philip Harju, a former deputy prosecutor, added that “He is an obvious danger to society.” The judge found that the estimation of the prosecution was correct and imposed a life sentence.
Kathy’s father expressed his gratitude for the investigators, saying, “For us, it’s been 28 years of thoughts and thoughts and thoughts. It’s finished. A functioning justice system exists. William argued that he was innocent in any event, and his defense lawyer declared that they would appeal the decision.
It is presumed that he is currently serving his sentence in a Washington State Prison and will do so until he dies. He’s in his mid-seventies right now.
